Salute to the Next Generation of Writers/Poets,

It is with lots of joy and excitement that we are writing this letter to
tell you about what your great and wonderful parents and their friends
are planning to do this summer. They are organizing a Third Annual Class
Reunion for all the high schools in the Quang Nam - Da Nang Province. In
addition to the exciting events such as musical performances, talent show, dinners, dancing, etc..., they are also having programs especially planned for the next
generation, that means YOU. The theme is "Bridge to the Future."

A prelude to all those efforts is a publication of a bilingual Magazine to commemorate this occasion. The purpose of this magazine is to provide a forum to bridge the gap between your parents' generation and you - your peers. We are soliciting written works from both groups.  In the past, your parents have expressed their thoughts, life experiences, memories, love stories, poetry, and an endless list of writings that are very soulful and moving. We want to translate some of these to share with you.

This year we would like to invite you, the future of our adopted country and the hope of our left-behind motherland, to share with us any feelings and thoughts about anything that matters to you: it may be about a puppy love, a conflict at school, an autobiography essay for High School/College application, a problem of generation gap between you and your parents etc....  You can write a letter to your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, or a sibling. It can also be creative writing, poetry, illustration or even a comic. The writing can be in English, Vietnamese or "Vietglish"!  Whatever suits your mood and intention!

We will also include pieces that had inspired your parents' generation when they were students to share with you.  As old trees being replanted in new land, we long to see new branches growing and carrying on our traditions, aspirations and hopes. We look forward to receiving your writing contributions to our Magazine.

The deadline to submit your writings is March 31, 2006 and the preferred
format is in Word document (for easy editing and layout). Please send
them to the following email addresses:

QUANGDA2006@aol.com

Thank you.
